A: Please, tell us a bit more about yourself. What brought you into art?

M: I was introduced to classical music from a very young age; I then studied visual arts in Naples and was trained as a director of photography at the National School of Cinema in Rome. Really, I think I paved my way through art.

A: What inspires you the most?

M: Real people and real life.

A: Do you have any specific rituals while working(creating)?

M: Not really, but swimming is a daily necessity.

A: What would you recommend to someone who's new to art (whether artist or just an admirer), what to begin with?

M: Explore as much as you can, focus on your mental health and cultivate the body, it will lead you. Take into consideration any opportunity the art system may offer to you: visit exhibitions, read magazines, work hard; be welcoming and open, but also critical about things you see. Let art (the world) amaze you.

A: What are your three favourite adjectives related to art?

M: Social. Engaging. Empowering

A: The best angle to look at art is from ...?

M: Beneath.

A: The perfect phrase to start any conversation about art is ...?

M: Is there one?

A: Must-read books to help us talk about art (or do we even need them)?

M: Of course we need them. We are here because others were here before us. Every person is different, try to find relevancy, I did with Jaques Ranciere, Judith Butler, Bauman.

A: If you could change one thing in the art world - what would it be?

M: I believe the art world is still very much biased. White supremacy, patriarchy, elitism. This must change.

A: Please, share your favorite quote (not necessarily related to art).

M: We rise by lifting others.

Thank you!
